Hyatt Regency Taipei Taoyuan International Airport

As the only full-service hotel directly at Taipei Taoyuan Airport, the Hyatt Regency Taipei Taoyuan is the best choice for everyone that is looking for the privacy of having your own room and bathroom, and for everyone that wants the extra amenities like the big gym and the swimming pool looking out over the airport.

The hotel is about a 5 minute drive from Taipei Taoyuan Airport and offers a free shuttle service both ways. Running every 30 minutes between 4am and 11:30pm. However if you are travelling from Taipei city, the hotel also has a mrt stop next door, the A14a airport hotel station.

The Hyatt Regency at Taipei Airport is a solid choice, but during my stay the service was not matching the star rating, however the view over the airport was spectaculair, the bed was good, the shower was clean and the comfort of having a private room instead of a bunk bed is worth it. Insider’s tips for the Hyatt Regency Taipei Taoyuan International Airport

  • There is a restaurant inside the hotel, but nothing else around the hotel. So prepare snacks before you check-in.
  • For food and snacks you can take the metro to the food court in Terminal 2.
  • The metro at the A14a station runs every 15 minutes so plan accordingly.
  • Book a room with airport view if you don’t want to be stuck looking at office buildings.

Free airport shuttle

The Hyatt Regency Taipei Taoyuan Airport offers a free airport shuttle for guests, both ways. When you arrive at Taipei Taoyuan Airport you can take the shuttle to the hotel from Terminal 1 B1 bus stop 12 or from Terminal 2 Ground Floor (1st floor in Taiwan) bus stop 7.

The free airport shuttle runs from 4am to 11:30pm from the Hyatt Regency hotel, arriving 15 minutes after departure at T1 or 20 minutes after departure at T2. When I took the shuttle there were two busses, 1 for each terminal, but this might change depending on demand.

The shuttle is free and frequent, which makes it more convenient than some other hotels near Taipei airport with airport shuttle, but there still are some rules. Each passenger can only bring 2 pieces of luggage on board, with a maximum weight of 30kg. And you need to be ready for boarding the bus 10 minutes before departure, so the shuttle can run on schedule.

When leaving the hotel to the airport you need to reserve a spot on the shuttle, which you can do when checking in at the hotel. Though there are some complaints about having a reserved spot but still not being allowed on because the bus was full, and personall I cannot remember being asked if I had reserved a spot on the bus, only what terminal I was heading to.

When it comes to boarding the airport shuttle at the airport, to go to the hotel, there is no strict rules about making a reservation for your spot, but I do recommend reaching out to the hotel 24 hours before arrival to make sure everything is taken care of.

Rooms at the Hyatt Regency Taipei Airport

There are several room types at the Hyatt Regency Taipei Airport hotel, but the main difference is having airport view or not. Within these two options there are of course the usual choices of a king bed, or single beds.

But the main choice you will have to make, for the regular rooms, is choosing between looking at the surrounding office blocks. Or looking out over the airport and seeing the planes take of, or park for the night. (I booked a room with airport view an have no complaints about noise, the rooms were proper sound proof agains airplane noise. Read my full Hyatt Regency Taipei Airport review)

Other rooms in the hotel give you extra’s like club access or the more luxurious Regency suites who all come with airport view.
